The 2017 vintage was a marvelous continuation of what we saw in 2016 in terms of great concentration and rich fruit character. The vineyard has truly come into its own as of late which the resulting wines prove in abundance. The 2017 Boars’ View Pinot Noir has a deep, gorgeous plum color and inky density. On the palate, the wine offers copious notes of pomegranate and cranberry compote balanced beautifully with darker notes of clove, licorice, and confectionery cocoa. Lofty hints of evergreen and mint round out the complexity and provides a beautiful, ethereal herbal quality that lingers on the palate with a finish that stretches on for miles.


The 2017 season provided an ideal complement of weather conditions perfectly suited to growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. While the inland regions experienced higher than normal temperatures throughout the summer that crescendoed with a heat wave over Labor Day, Sonoma Coast vineyards enjoyed maritime influenced moderate conditions that allowed for temperatures to warm slowly in the morning and then become mild quickly in the evening. Overall, our peak heat temperatures were lower and their duration shorter which produced a generous ripening window that created voluminous lush flavors, super-rich character, and great natural balance in the wines.

Rated 93+ pts. Similar levels of forest and spice notes emerge from the 2017 Pinot Noir The Coast, which shows the more focused, savory style of the 2017 vintage nicely. Plenty of black cherry, toasted bread, baking spice, and forest floor, medium to full body, and rock-solid overall balance all make for a beautiful Pinot Noir.
