The vineyard is primarily composed of Goldridge Loam soil that shows a yellowish, fine sandy surface and offers excellent drainage with low fertility — ideal for cultivating low yield, high quality Pinot Noir with full body and expansive character.
Our vines are in their prime, the ‘sweet spot’ of their development offering yields with considerable concentration and consistency from which we can make the most expressive, elegant wines possible.
“This vintage of the 2022 Boars’ View “The Coast” estate Pinot Noir is marked with dark brambly fruit, a refreshing salinity, and waves of complementary earth and spice notes. The luxurious dark garnet color radiates in the glass. Exotic aromas suggest oolong tea, cardamom, macerated boysenberry and mint. The palate is punctuated by rich notes of plum, black cherry, loam and cocoa. This wine ultimately reflects the exposed gravelly hillside it’s grown on with its bold, dynamic flavors paired with a pretty rose water finish; a shining example of what a dramatic vineyard site and an excellent growing season have to offer.” – Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown.
CRITICAL PRAISE, 95 Points. Medium-bodied, it fills and expands through the palate with plush tannins and a seamless, lovely mineral texture. It displays fantastic balance with a luxurious feel and will age gracefully over the next 15 years. Drink 2025-2039. – Audrey Frick, www.jebdunnuck.com

While the Goldridge Loam covering the lower slopes was a perfect fit for Pinot Noir, we knew this small plot of clay soils called for Chardonnay, so we planted the Wente Chardonnay clone. Our Boars’ View Estate Chardonnay is an incredibly rich wine, offering wonderful fruit aromatics, opulence, and cellarability that are a signature of some of the finest Chardonnays grown on the West Sonoma Coast.
“Our estate, Chardonnay, is incredibly limited. since we farm just under two acres on our estate vineyard. The 2022 Boars’ View estate Chardonnay was noted by its very small berry size, resulting in a complex flavor profile expressing multi-faceted Chardonnay notes with gravitas. The wine displays a golden yellow hue in the glass with a faint trace of pale green upon closer inspection. The tightly woven aromas suggest white peach, and lime pith. The palate is marked by a wonderfully polished mélange of Asian pear, Meyer lemon, brass and river rock. There is a pleasing amount of vibrant acidity that frames the palate, energizing the trajectory and carrying through to a fragrant floral finish.” — Winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown
CRITICAL PRAISE, 94 Points. Farmed from the top of the slope where there’s more clay in our soil, and best suited for Chardonnay, the 2022 Boars’ View “The Coast” estate Chardonnay… full-bodied, it fills the palate with a luxurious feel but stays light on its feet and comes into focus on the finish with a light chalky texture and a clean finish. It is going to drink well over the next 8-10 years. — Audrey Frick, www.jebdunnuck.com

If the Boars’ View Estate Pinot Noir is the showboat wine in the Boars’ View collection, the Boars’ View BDR Pinot Noir acts as the brooding dark star. Its profile, especially in good growing seasons like 2022, exhibits a more austere quality that harkens more to old-world Pinot Noir. It’s a wine that favors more structure, more tense fruit appeal, mineral over flesh. And with that comes many joys in the form of pomegranate and crushed flint on the nose. The palate is tightly packed with notes of cranberry compote, quince, and wild strawberry. This wine does not open the kimono immediately, but gestures in shadow-play all its hidden secrets. – Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown
CRITICAL PRAISE, 94 Points. The 2022 Pinot Noir BDR (which stands for Bohan Dillon Road) is a blend of Calera, Mount Eden and Swan Pinot Noir clones. In the glass, it’s a youthful red hue and is spicy and expressive with notes of sassafras, ripe cherries, cardamom, and forest floor. Its floral side unfolds as it opens in the glass and shows notes of fresh tea leaf. Medium-bodied, it has an elegant feel with a bit of earthy richness, a plush texture, and a clean, ripe feel. It’s going to age gracefully over the next 15 years. – Audrey Frick, www.jebdunnuck.com

In the glass, it pours a ripe red color and is pretty, with spicy notes of wild strawberries, woodsy earth, delicate incense, cardamon, and light minty notes lifting from the glass. It’s medium-bodied, with fine tannins, and has a clean, iron-rich mineral finish. Drink 2024-2036. – Audrey Frick, www.jebdunnuck.com
