The vineyard is primarily composed of Goldridge Loam soil that shows a yellowish, fine sandy surface and offers excellent drainage with low fertility — ideal for cultivating low yield, high quality Pinot Noir with full body and expansive character.
Our vines are in their prime, the ‘sweet spot’ of their development offering yields with considerable concentration and consistency from which we can make the most expressive, elegant wines possible.
The 2021 growing season conditions were extremely favorable throughout this vintage and the proof comes through in this Estate Pinot Noir. The dark color of the wine inspires intrigue and draws you in by its mere presence. Exotic aromas emerge from the glass in concert suggesting notes of black tea, tart bramble fruits, quince, and anise. The densely layered palate is defined by a fine-tuned structure highlighting notes of pomegranate, lavender, and fresh sage. While still young and bold, this wine shows incredible potential to unpack with time in a decanter, or in a cool dark cellar. While the Goldridge Loam covering the lower slopes was a perfect fit for Pinot Noir, we knew this small plot was calling for Chardonnay and planted Wente clone. Our Boars’ View Estate Chardonnay is an incredibly rich wine, offering wonderful fruit aromatics that are a signature of the Sonoma Coast.
The 2021 Boar’s View Chardonnay displays all the dynamic influence of the warm sunny days and cool, marine-influenced nights that graces the Estate vineyard. In the glass, the wine is marked by a regal golden hue. Complex, layered aromatics of apricot, green mango, lilac, and crushed flint give way to a silky viscous palate marked by notes of honeysuckle, white peach and polished brass. While the front of the palate is noted by its decadence, the mid-palate is counter-balanced with an elongated acidity that frames up the wine, leading to an ethereal finish of flowers and citrus pith. This is one of the best expressions of site and varietal this vineyard has ever produced. — Thomas Rivers Brown

Impenetrably dark, with layers of aromatic lift and complex palate notes, this vintage of B.D.R sets a high bar. An intriguing array of aromas suggesting macerated blackberry, clove, and allspice compete for attention. The mouth-coating palate exhibits notes of black licorice, boysenberry, fresh loam and pine bough. The fine-tuned tannins and bright acidity give the wine a pleasing architecture that carries through to a bright floral finish.
